Recently my cousin Mr.K.K.Subramanian Chartered Accountant and self visited this place on a Yoke annual camp and went around the beautiful village of Kodaganallur. It is very difficult to explain the lovely feelings which we have undergone at this place after we visited the very old temple of Soundaryanayaki samaytha Abhi Muktheshwar. There were bats and snakes going around freely and we had the opportunity to perform the morning abhisheka pooja ourselves by taking the water from the river tambarabarani. We chanted rudhram and chamakam. I sang the siva panchatchara slokam and Lingashtagam and Bilvashtagam and performing the abhishekam for Abhi Muktheshwar. In fact my cousin and self had the same feelings of ecstasy and both of us determined to do something for this ancient temple by going through the details of History behind Lord Abhi Muktheshwar and his consort Soundaryanayaki. WE got certain details about one Kodaganallur Sundara Swamygal who did lots of good for this place by performing the nithya pooja at this famous temple. By going through his records we came to know that Swamigal was born in Gangaikondanto one Yagneswara Sastrigal and Kamatchi ammal in the Appaiah Dheekshidhar's clan in Srivatsa Gothram in the year 1831 December 3rd. H e was born on an Amavasai Day with Anusha Star and as the second son. He lost both his parents at the age of less than 2 years and his maternal uncle Venkita Subbaiyer brought him and his elder brother Rama Subban (Kuppani Sivam) to Patthamadai. Sundara Swamigal in his early days underwent Aksharabyasam, upanayanam etc with Pathamadai Krishna Gana badigal and Veeravanallur Somasundara Sastrigal. He performed the nithya Siva pooja and 1 lakh Panchatchara Jebams daily. He was called Sundara Sivanar from those days. He got married to Janaki (Daughter of Adaichani Ramasubbaiyar who taught him the methods to perform Poojas of Baana Lingam, Natarajar, Sivagami Moola vikragangal .He also had the manthra upadesam from Visveswara Sastri of Adaichani. Sundara Swamigal did a great thing by digesting the meanings of Sootha samhidhai and did the parayanam by heart. He was staying in this Abhi Muktheshwar temple which had the beautiful pasdithurai and constructed the Bajanai Madam opposite to this in the year 1850.He went to places as far as Kasi and met many stalwartts like Ramalinga Adigalar and Manonmaniyam Sundaranar Pillai. He conducted the first Kumbabishekam at Arimalam in the year 1870. Completed another 22 Kumbabishekam at various temples and the last one at Gangaikondan in the year 1873. The most important aspect of these Kumbabishekams is that his first kumbabishekam was at Arimalam where he had his final days and samathi and the last kumbabishekam was performed at his birth place Gangaikondan. He had lots of followers and went in to samathi on 21st October 1878. Swamigal gave most of his belongings to the Kodaganallur temple and the rest of his jewellery and belongings of his wife to temples where he performed kumbabishekam. He was followed by Guru Sivanandha from the same clan of Appaiadheekshidhar. We performed pooja in this Abhi Muktheshwar temple and to our surprise we got messages of clearance from Usha Viswanathan who performed the Kumbabishekam in the year 1999 along with my father Late K.S.Sivaraman (Advocate) and we also came to know that Ms.Lakshmi Principal of Meenakshi College and daughter of K.S.Soundararajan belongs to the same village. By the grace of God Abhio Muktheshwarar we got the communications and established the contacts. The trust Abhimuktheshwar Kodaganallur Trust is likely to take off nicely on Monday 18th June 2012 because of the timely help from Advocate Son of Late K.S.Sivaraman Mr.Balakrishnan in the form of a Trust draft copy.Hopefully We can see the booming actions at this Abhi Muktheshwar temple with the blessings of Sringeri Acharyal Sri Sri Bharatha Theeretha Swamigal since he has programmed to visit Ms.Lakshmi at Meenakshi College to participate in the Saradha temple Kumbabishekam. Om Namasivaya!!
